The 8's (Eights) Deck Fans!
It started with an inquiry from Jon Schmitz- could we make a board that was similar to a board built in the 70’s by Lonnie Toft, called a Hurricane? In addition to the wild name there was another unusual characteristic- 4 trucks and 8 wheels! A jig was layed out and the first Veteran Typhoon was born. The board went to Jon, and it was sometime after that when Jon talked to his friend Hugh Regalado. Hugh acted as the Ambassodor of Eights via all modes of coms, including his awesomely detailed website. Many thanks, Hugh! The inquiries and orders came in daily.
About Typhoon 8 Wheel Decks:
The board is 29-1/2” long by 13-5/8” wide and 1/2” thick with a flip nose camber and a kick tail. The construction is twelve laminations of Baltic birch.
You can have the deck finished in one of three ways:
- as a blank deck, sanded down to #150 grit sandpaper and sealed
- as a blank deck, finished with a clearcoat
- or painted with original 8 art by Dean Edwards, signed and numbered
All decks come with the truck holes predrilled; please specifiy the hole pattern (old or new school) on the order form, or email to discuss your truck layout
We don’t provide completes since the shipping (already high) is over the top by the time the hardware is shipped to the Islands, assembled and shipped back across the Pacific. Besides, people have very particular ideas about setting these boards up.
